Pete Vogel’s journey from the Quad Cities to Decorah is a story of love, family, and a deep commitment to community service. After spending 68 years in Moline, IL, Pete and his wife, Julie, moved to Decorah to be closer to their kids and four grandkids. Pete worked for John Deere for 40 years, while Julie made her mark at their local Catholic school, where she built and managed the school’s first computer lab and developed its tech curriculum.
With a history of volunteering for the United Way of the Quad Cities, Pete was eager to get involved in his new community. “I wanted to jump into similar work with the United Way of Winneshiek County—smaller pond but bigger potential splash,” Pete says.
What he loves most about his role is meeting and learning from the talented, passionate people dedicated to making life better for others. “It’s a great way to work with amazing people and raise awareness about the invaluable services our nonprofit partners provide,” he shares.
Pete is especially passionate about engaging the community to help United Way tap into the Time, Talent, and Treasure that can make a difference. “Increasing awareness and partnering with others is key to creating lasting change.”
